A Brief History

COVENANT CHURCH EAST is a church planting of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh, where Bishop Joseph L. Garlington, Sr. is the Senior Pastor. CCE was birthed out of his desire to see congregations established in and around the city of Pittsburgh that reflect the ministry philosophy of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh and his burden for reconciliation.

During the early months of 1999, a number of outreaches were held in the Westmoreland County area that resulted in the formation of COVENANT CHURCH EAST in August of that same year.

Today, under the pastoral leadership of Jim and Donna Adkins, COVENANT CHURCH EAST is a growing congregation of believers committed to sharing God’s love and thus fulfill Christ’s commission to disciple the nations.

Membership

Membership in COVENANT CHURCH EAST is open to all who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those desiring membership would be expected to attend "Discovery" classes. These classes provide information about the church and help each person discover their place of service in Covenant Church East. "Discovery" classes are held approximately every 2 months.
